The Samsung SyncMaster 172W is a revolutionary, wide-format 17-inch multimedia TFT that’s one of the brightest displays on the market today. Ideal for graphics professionals, motion video editors, and PC and online gamers, this sleek new display offers a wide 16:9 aspect ratio for 22% more working space than a typical 15" monitor. This eliminates the need for two separate displays, giving users extra room for palettes, toolbars, spreadsheet columns, and PowerPoint thumbnails. The 172W, which is the newest addition to Samsung’s MagicBright™ family, features three separate brightness modes. The PC-Text mode is ideal for traditional text-based computing, such as word processing. The Internet mode offers increased luminescence designed for viewing streaming video. And the third, and brightest, mode is for entertainment applications, such as PC-Internet gaming, multimedia content editing, and watching TV or HDTV (TV tuner optional). Including built-in speakers, the 172W allows users to enjoy any widescreen (cinema) DVD movie, and offers an sRGB color management solution for true color compatibility among various color image peripherals. There’s also a stylish dual hinge stand that folds back for easy wall mounting, so users don’t have to purchase a separate VESA wall mount bracket.
